The Periyar Tiger Reserve situated
within the confines of the Western
Ghats in the Southern Indian state
of Kerala, is one of the most captivating
wildlife parks in the world. The
picturesque lake in the heart of
the sanctuary spans an area of 55
sq km. This lake, which initially
led to the submersion of large tracts
of forestland, however became an
excellent sanctuary for wildlife,
which includes Asiatic elephants,
gaur (bison), tigers, leopards and
bears among others. In 1975 Periyar
forests were declared as a tiger
reserve under the Project Tiger.
Thekkady, the tourist zone of Periyar
Tiger Reserve, is the embarkation
point for visits to various parts
of the park on boats for wildlife
viewing. The terrain ranges from
hilly to flat grassland areas at
the edges of the lakes. The vegetation
is of moist evergreen type. |

Comprises 29 deluxe cottages
and 1 suite cottage set amidst
lush tropical gardens and overlooking
the natural bounty of the forests
that surround Cardamom County.
The deluxe cottages feature spacious
interiors, with modern architecture
& ambience. All the cottages
are elevated with private balconies
with a panoramic view of the Kumily
hills and the forests of Periyar
Tiger Reserve. The rooms include
European bathrooms with bathtubs
and the rooms have a private sit-out
attached to each. Additional beds
are available on request.
The Suite Cottage is generously
proportioned and luxurious, elevated
75 feet from the ground and overlooking
the swimming pool. It has a well-furnished
sitting room and a bedroom with
a splendid view designed to capture
spectacular sights & sounds
of the forests.
Special Features in the cottages
